Fox's popularity wanes.

MEXICO CITY, Mar 01, 2004 (El Universal/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- Ever since the popularity of President Vicente Fox reached its zenith between February and May 2003, surveys of the public on his performance and personality has registered a constant decline and the Ninth National Survey of Presidential Evaluation carried out by newspaper El Universal is not an exception.

Since the spring of last year, indices measuring the public appraisal of the president had fallen slowly but surely. The rate of approval of the government has slipped from 63% to 55%, while the public's view of Fox's leadership has dropped from 50% to 46%. In the same period favorable opinions of the premier has fallen from 56% to 47%, while the public's perception of his capacity to resolve problems has declined from 55% to 43%. Ratings of the Fox administration have been lowered from 6.6 points out of 10 to 6.4 points and the assessment of his personality fell from 65% to 60%, although this is considered his strong suit.
