Qld: Missing group found in Gulf region

BRISBANE, April 27 AAP - A group of people missing in the Gulf region of Queensland
since Wednesday have been found by aerial searchers.

Mount Isa police were notified that a group of five Aborigines - two men, two women
and a child - went missing after setting out for a fishing trip on Wednesday.

The group left Doomadgee by road for Old Doomadgee, in Queensland's far north, at 8am
(AEST) on Wednesday but did not return as expected later that day.

Police were concerned about the health of one of the missing women, who has a known
medical condition and might not have medication with her.

A fixed-wing aircraft sent from Darwin last night to search the area reported a sighting
of the group at about 8am (AEST) today.

A rescue helicopter flew from Mt Isa to the area and recovered three members of the
group about 10.30am (AEST) today, police said.

The male, female and child are reportedly in good medical condition.

The trio told police the remaining two members of the group had walked away from their
car, which appears to have broken down.

While flying the three back to Doomadgee, the Mt Isa Community Rescue Helicopter crew
spotted the remaining two group members walking along a road.

A vehicle was seen driving towards the pair, and police were awaiting the pair's return
to Doomadgee with that vehicle.
