Iraqi officials: bombs, grenades found in basement of Sunni leader's office

Iraqi troops found bombs, grenades and other explosives Monday in the basement of the office of one of the country's most powerful Sunni Arab politicians, officials said.

The second raid in three days on Adnan al-Dulaimi's compound threatened to re-ignite a crisis that had taken on sectarian undertones after the hard-line Sunni leader accused the Shiite-led government of trying to silence him this weekend.

Iraq's president, a Kurd, weighed in Monday, expressing "dismay" over the government's treatment of al-Dulaimi.
