NSW: Large IR rally expected to cause traffic chaos in city

The centre of Sydney is likely to be brought to a standstill by a large protest against the
federal government's second wave of industrial relations laws today.

Commuters have been warned to avoid the city centre, where up to 20,000 workers,
accompanied by a large number of trucks, are expected to march in the lunchtime protest.

NSW Labor Council spokesman PETER LEWIS says demonstrators will march from Hyde Park to
outside Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD'S office in Phillip Street, where a concert will be held.

Mr LEWIS warns commuters to avoid the city centre as traffic is likely to be disrupted by
the demonstration, which starts at 12.30pm (AEST).
